President's Statement on COVID-19 and Reopening

May 2021

To My Brothers, Friends, Followers, and the Curious-

As president of the club, it gives me incredible excitement, one might even call it titillation, to officially announce that the Discipline Corps is finally moving toward a return to normal. We made the decision to resume in person bar nights, meetings and play.

Our first return to normal was on the weekend of the 7th of May. Firstly, on the 7th, brothers met at TMC bar’s back patio for our first bar night in over a year. We sold play party tickets and had our usual enjoyment with conversations and general tomfoolery. For the time being, we will be meeting at TMC for our bar nights. This is because The Eagle is temporarily closed and, as I understand it, in the process of moving to a new and better facility. TMC is located at 3903 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas, TX 75219.

Per the decision that was made at our Quarterly Meeting in April 2021, beginning with the June Play Party, and moving forward, you will need to bring proof that you have been fully vaccinated in order to be admitted to the party. To be considered “Fully Vaccinated”, you will need to have received both shots of the Pfizer or Moderna Vaccines, or the single shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. You must wait an additional 14 days after your course of vaccines to be considered fully vaccinated. When you arrive at the party, when you check in, you will be expected to give us your ticket and show us your ID per the usual procedure, you will also need to show us either your vaccine card or a picture of the card. Masks will not be mandatory, we will not be taking temperatures, and social distancing will no longer be enforced.

As always, if I may be of service to you, please feel free to reach out to me. If you are uncomfortable coming directly to me, you can also reach out to our Member at Large, Jim S, who will anonymously bring your concerns forward. We are almost through to the other side. It is my hope that this letter finds you and yours well, and that you keep happy and healthy. We will all be together soon in fraternity and brotherhood.

Warmest Regards,

Saint St.James

President's Statement on DC and COVID-19

December 2020

To My Brothers, Friends, Followers, and the Curious-

My name is Saint St.James, current President of Discipline Corps. I’ve been asked to write a bit on the state of the club. In short, 2020 was a rough year for us all. The club is surviving, but not without our share of losses and pitfalls. I am thankful that, to my knowledge, and despite a few members becoming ill, no member of the club has lost their life to this affliction.

In March, 2020, after Esprit de Corps, D.C.’s annual event; the executive committee decided to cancel all play parties. We did have one play party in October that included intense social distancing and rules. It was, to date, our only in person play party for nearly a year. The Executive Committee and I are committed to safeguarding the health and stability of the club and have canceled all future play parties until we can be assured of a safe reopening. I expect that, if caseloads and vaccination numbers continue in the current trends, we will be able to have in person play again by the summer. Sadly, this means that we have had to cancel Esprit de Corps 2021, we look forward to seeing you all in 2022 however.

Unfortunately, as we, as a club, like to know that new members of the club are safe, sane, and believe in consent; we have had to stop voting on new members until we are able to see them in a play environment. This is unlikely to change in the near term, however, as soon as it is feasible to do so, I look forward to an infusion of new life into our club. I am personally sorry to each and every man that I have had to turn away during this trying time. If it will make you feel better, we can negotiate a scene in recompense for your lost time; certainly, the pleasure will be all mine.

Behind the scenes, the club is functioning normally. The executive committee is still meeting monthly and we are still holding our quarterly membership meetings, both events being held exclusively on Zoom I am afraid. I am not an island, and I could not have done this by myself. It has been the diligent efforts of the other members of the Executive Committee as well as the sustained efforts of the brothers who have stepped up to participate in ad hoc committees that have kept things running as smoothly and un-chaotically as they have. My special appreciation to the Technology Committee and the Reopening Committee, I’d be lost without you. Our Web Daddy has been of unparalleled help during this time as well.

To everyone who serves our club and to everyone who has stepped up to do something extra during the past difficult year: Thank You, from the bottom of my bottom, Thank You!

As always, if I may be of service, please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally with your concerns. I’m always willing to slide back on a few inches if it means that I can help someone who has needs. I’m also known to handle a flogging, for the common good.
